According to new allegations from a informant, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the clemency request are unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning the convict is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, family or agents have made any promises to the President or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
